Eaves are one of the most common ways into a roof on the Gold Coast. Older homes often have fibre cement eave sheets that have cracked or dropped at the corners. Timber fascia boards can shrink or rot in the humid weather, leaving a gap between the fascia and the roof sheeting or tiles. A possum only needs a gap not much bigger than a tennis ball to squeeze through.
The crew we book walks the full length of the eaves and checks each corner, joint and vent. They look for fur and dirty rub marks around gaps, which show where a possum has been squeezing through, as well as droppings on the ground and stains on the wall below.

Where timber has rotted badly, the crew will point it out and tell you whether a carpenter or roofer is needed first. They will not cover up damage that needs a proper repair. For most homes, though, a neat patch of mesh, flashing or new sheet closes the gap and blends in with the house. On two-storey homes, the crew brings taller ladders to reach the upper eaves.
